Will George Coetzee Have To Cancel He Flight To Augusta National?

The Masters at Augusta is the one tournament every player wants to be involved in and it’s no different for South Africa’s George Coetzee as he heads into this weeks Trophée Hassan II event.

As it currently stands he is 54th in the official world rankings and needs to get into the top 50 to be assured of a place in the prestigious Augusta National in April. He will be looking for a repeat of his 2011 appearance here when he finished fourth after bursting on to the scene.

He will be looking to build on his victory in last months Joburg Open which was a turning point in his career. Let’s hope he isn’t distracted by the thought of a place at The Masters and can just get his head down and have a good week and let the ranking points take care of themselves.

He has of course played at Augusta once before (last year) but failed to make the second round cut and will be very keen to make all four days this time around.

He will up against some of Europe’s best players this week including David Howell, Simon Dyson,  José María Olazabal and Ross Fisher, so it’s all set for another exciting week and the European Tour with a lot to play for including Ryder Cup points. You’ll find a lot of players will be playing in as many events as they can right now to start racking up world ranking and Ryder Cup points.

Enjoy the week of golf!
