Big Hitting Bubba Finally Wins After Nearly Two Years
Last night saw Bubba Watson win for the first time since his Masters victory back in 2012 where he won in a play-off against Louis Oosthuizen.
The big hitting American compiled a superb 64 to finish ahead of Dustin Johnson who failed to birdie one of the last three holes at the beautiful Riviera Course in California, and has now claimed his second runner up finish in as many weeks.
William McGirt lead by four shots at the start of the day but Watson opened up with a flurry of birdies to whittle that lead away pretty quickly, and with a holed bunker shot at the 6th, he grabbed the lead and never looked back.
Watson’s array of shots suited the Riviera course particularly well as it’s a course where you have to move the ball both ways and have a good shot game which Bubba has an abundance of, and in the end was a comfortable finish after a long straight drive at the last, just left him a wedge which he was able to covert to win in style.
He’s been threatening this win for a while now, and will be in confident mood with the seasons big tournaments just around the corner!
